I haven't commented here before, but I wanted to express my condolences and thank you for writing so beautiful a post, in what must be such a hard time. It resonates powerfully. I am in the parent/child club. I lost a very young child, and it took six years to recover to some semblance of normality. It took years for the total numbness to wear off. But you are right; it's nowhere near the same as before. More than any other event in life, I mark time as before and after. I hardly recognize the before version of myself. Whoever that was before, shattered to dust. It truly was an awakening. I would never chose to go through that path again, and yet, I know things I'd never know otherwise. Things of inestimable value. Things that can't be expressed in words. Your comparison between the events in your house, and the events in the world couldn't be more apt. I wish there were easier ways to know these things, but, death is the great revealer.
Regardless, although we will never meet, know that I am sitting quietly beside you in spirit tonight. I'm so sorry for your loss.
So achingly beautiful. Although I am a before-deather with regard to my loved ones still walking this earth, I felt this deeply. Scales fell from my eyes three-ish years ago.... A layer was peeled away. Nothing will ever be the same - but we are surely closer to Truth. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. ❤

I became a Christian at 21 years old so that shifted my understanding
of life, purpose, and my existence. The world can be a beautiful place
depending on one's life and experiences. For many, life is one distraction
after another, but each of us would be well served to take time to ponder
the unknown, the invisible, and the inevitable. For those unacquainted with
the bible,
Romans 5:12 says, "Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man,
and death through sin, so death spread to all people
{no one being able to stop it or escape its power], because they all sinned."
This sin problem sets up a dilemma that needs a remedy. Of course, that remedy
is a savior, Jesus Christ.
